Four Medium-Sized Uninterruptible Power Supplies or UPSs ($1,000 USD in total) would be used to protect the medical equipment at the Handa Medical Center from breaking down due to electrical supply fluctuations.

The Handa Academy opened in May of 2018 with the mission of helping disadvantaged children in rural Cambodia to break the cycle of poverty by receiving teaching and training in the areas of English and Computers, Sports and Leadership, New Vocations, and Health and Hygiene. The current capacity of the academy is 180 students and to date there are 150 students enrolled. By sponsoring one student for $1,200 USD, you will be providing them with an entire year of instruction, personal mentorship, basic preventative health care, access for their family to vocational training, and a large healthy lunch five days a week. A High-Capacity Printer & Copy Machine ($1,200 USD in total) would allow the staff of the Handa Academy to printing teaching and study materials for the students they serve.

A Modern Laboratory Centrifuge ($1,500 USD in total) would be used in the laboratory to separate different solid particulates from liquids. Equipping the laboratory at the Handa Medical Center with this device is crucial to properly evaluating the health of patients.

Three Advanced Projectors ($1,650 USD in total) would allow the teachers at the Handa Academy to present all types of media in a more efficient manner.

Two Laboratory Incubators ($2,000 USD in total) would be used in the laboratory to provide a temperature-controlled environment to support the growth of microbiological cultures in blood, stool or tissues – a process that is required to properly identify various diseases and give the correct advice and care to patients at the Handa Medical Center.

Two Portable 12L ECG Machines ($3,000 USD in total) are small in size and weight, which would allow them to be easily transferred from one place to another to allow seriously ill patients at the Handa Medical Center to have their heart rate and rhythm be monitored in real-time.

Ten Advanced Infusion Pumps ($3,000 USD in total) would be located in the Intensive Care Unit and Operating Theater of the Handa Medical Center to deliver fluids into patients, such as nutrients and medications, in carefully controlled amounts.

Three Cardiac Monitors ($4,000 USD in total) are devices that record the electrical activity of the heart (called an ECG). These devices would assist the staff of the Handa Medical Center to provide a better level of care to patients with severe illnesses.

One High-Quality Defibrillator ($5,000 USD in total) located in the operating theater of the Handa Medical Center would be used to save the lives of patients affected by a sudden cardiac arrest.

The 150 Handa Academy students have been exposed to golf and basic golf instruction from a number of amateur and professional golfers who have passed through town. The next step to help them progress is to set up a small golf area, inside the Handa Academy, to be incorporated into the Sports & Leadership curriculum at the academy. A Versatile Laparoscopic Tower ($25,000 USD in total) would provide visualization and documentation of procedures, as well as the performance of surgical procedures without the large incisions that characterize conventional surgery. It would also allow the staff of the Handa Medical Center to do arthroscopy and other procedures that reduce surgical complications.

A Modern Management Information System & Related Hardware ($55,000 USD in total) from the most popular provider in the region (BizBox MIS) would be tremendously beneficial to the staff of the Handa Medical Center because it would dramatically reduce the time spent entering data and performing inventory counts, allow for the careful monitoring of medicines and supplies, and provide real-time financial management reporting.

A Modern C-Arm X-Ray Machine ($60,000 USD in total) would be used for fluoroscopic intraoperative imaging during surgical, orthopedic and emergency care procedures. Such a device would provide high-resolution X-ray images in real-time, thus allowing the physician of the Handa Medical Center to monitor progress and make corrections.

An Advanced CT Scan ($300,000 USD in total) could detect bone and joint problems, like complex bone fractures and tumors. It could help the staff of the Handa Medical Center diagnose conditions like cancer, heart disease, emphysema or liver masses. It would also help locate internal injuries and bleeding, common among the car accident victims we serve.
