The Handa Academy opened in May of 2018 with the mission of helping disadvantaged children in rural Cambodia to break the cycle of poverty by receiving teaching and training in the areas of English and Computers, Sports and Leadership, New Vocations, and Health and Hygiene. The current capacity of the academy allows it to enroll up to 150 students from the ages of six to twelve.
The Academy’s goal is to ensure that disadvantaged children will receive the support they need to become successful, self-reliant adults in their community. The academy has continued to grow every year, thanks to the generous support of Dr. Haruhisa Handa and the organizations he leads in Japan. In the coming year, an exciting new building will be completed that will dramatically expand the functions of administration and vocational training on the campus.
